ABC: Construction Industry Must Attract 439,000 Workers in 2025

The construction industry has gotta rope in 439,000 new workers in 2025 just to keep the wheels turning, and they’re eyeing 499,000 more the next year if the money lenders play nice with interest rates. The cash is flowing, but so are the headaches; wages are climbing like a ladder nobody’s tall enough to reach, and costs are through the roof. The crew’s getting younger, which is a small miracle, but we’re still short-handed, especially around those manufacturing behemoths that are hoovering up all the workers like a vacuum cleaner. Immigration’s been a Band-Aid, but if the new policies tighten the belt, we’re back to square one. They’re banging on about some merit-based visa system, hoping to get more bodies through the door legally. Meanwhile, they’re looking to Trump and Congress to cut the red tape, maybe pass some laws that don’t feel like a straightjacket. But who’s holding their breath for that?
